Our Verdict
In an industry crowded with bulky lighting gear, the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 stands out by packing a punchy 40W output into a frame that genuinely fits in your pocket. I tested this unit across several indoor and outdoor shoots to see if its small footprint compromises light quality or reliability.
Performance & Build Quality
The build quality is impressively robust for a device weighing only 320g, feeling solid enough to survive the rigors of travel. The inclusion of the DynaVort Cooling System is a game-changer, as the built-in FOC fans keep the unit running cool even during extended sessions at higher power levels.
Day-to-Day Experience
Using the M40 is incredibly intuitive thanks to the dual-wheel interface that allows for quick adjustments to brightness and color temperature on the fly. PD fast charging has become my favorite feature, as it allows me to top up the battery quickly between setups, ensuring I never miss the shot.
This is the perfect lighting solution for traveling vloggers, content creators, and photographers who need a reliable, high-output light that doesn't take up space in their camera bag.
Final Thoughts
The ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 earns its high 4.91 rating by delivering consistent, professional performance in a deceptively small package. If you are looking for a versatile light that justifies its $199.00 price tag through sheer utility and design, this is undoubtedly the way to go.
